Seit 2004 hat sich Koper kontinuierlich als zentraler Kreuzfahrthafen positioniert und sich auf dem Markt für die Beförderung von Passagieren im Seeverkehr als lebhaftes, attraktives und noch etwas unentdecktes Ziel für Kreuzfahrten im Mittelmeer profiliert. Einer der Hauptvorteile von Koper ist die Lage seines Passagierterminals, der nur wenige Schritte vom Stadtzentrum entfernt ist. Dies trägt zu der lebhaften Atmosphäre in der Stadt bei, da die Besucher einen schnellen und einfachen Zugang zu den beliebten Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt haben.

Der Hafen nimmt zwischen 60 und 80 Schiffe pro Jahr auf.
