DISCOVER THE FLAVOURS OF THE SEA: SQUID DAYS ARE COMING TO SLOVENIAN ISTRIA
From 22 May to 7 June 2026, Slovenian Istria will celebrate one of the most valued seafood delicacies – squid. During this time, selected inns and restaurants across the region will join forces to offer visitors a wide variety of dishes prepared with this indispensable symbol of Istrian cuisine.
For many years, squid has delighted seafood lovers from near and far. It is popular among both locals and visitors, mainly because of its tender texture and remarkable versatility in the kitchen. Grilled, fried, stuffed or prepared with a modern twist – every plate offers a unique experience of sea flavours.
Adriatic squid holds a special value, renowned for its freshness and rich taste. Caught in the clean waters of the Adriatic Sea, it stands out for a quality that is difficult to compare with frozen alternatives imported from distant places. Its delicate texture and distinctive flavour create a true gourmet experience that impresses from the very first bite.
Between 22 May and 7 June 2026, visitors are invited to discover a variety of seafood dishes in selected inns and restaurants across Slovenian Istria, combining everything from traditional recipes to contemporary interpretations. The list of participating inns and restaurants from Koper, Ankaran, Izola, Portorož and Piran is available at www.loveistria.si.
