On Sunday, 18 May 2025, starting at 19.00, the Anton Foerster Mixed Choir from Ljubljana will perform at the Assumption Cathedral to celebrate its jubilee season. Accompanied by the magnificent concert organ of the Cathedral of Koper, they will sing a programme of Easter and May songs to commemorate Prof. Jože Trošto on the 85th anniversary of his birth (he was born on 12 May 1940 in Colo) and the 29th anniversary of Pope John Paul II’s first visit to Postojna, which took place on his 76th birthday, and which will remain indelible in the memory of the Slovenes, and especially of the Primorje people.The concert will take place in the Cathedral of Koper, on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Jože Trošto.

Admission to the concert is free, however we would appreciate your voluntary contributions which will go towards the completion of the Copra Cathedral Organ project.

On Saturday, 10 May at 7 p.m., we warmly invite you to the St. Francis of Assisi Hall in Koper, where we will join forces with the Brnistra Mixed Choir and the Lions Club Zarja from Portorož for a good cause.

The charity concert will raise funds for the Slovenian Hospice Association – Slovenian Istria Committee, which provides support to individuals and families in the most difficult moments of their lives.

Another special feature of the evening will be the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the choir career of Marek Kocjančič, who is also the initiator of this charity event.

Marko Čepak, a virtuoso jazz guitarist from the Karst region and an internationally renowned musician, and Aljoša Jerič, an excellent drummer, active both in Slovenia and in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, have invited the Piedmontese Lorenzo Cominoli, who brings the lyrical and melodic soul of the Italian jazz guitar to this musical story.

Jazz and Central European expressiveness, influences of border culture and tradition, improvisation and melodic lyricism merge this time in the land in between, “Terra di Mezzo” awaits us.

Dario Savron is a renowned percussionist from Trieste who regularly appears on major concert stages. He works in both classical and contemporary repertoire for percussion. His main instrument is the marimba, and he will present a varied selection of compositions for this instrument to the audience in Koper.
