Where is money and how to use it wisely?

In this workshop, we’ll talk about the things school doesn’t tell you. How to handle money, how to navigate the world of finance, what it means to be financially independent and how to avoid the pitfalls of consumerism. No long lectures, just concrete advice, real stories. If you’re a student, a young employee or just interested in how to manage your money, you’ve come to the right place.

Enej Silvij Piccolomini PIJ II : Early humanistic writings and records on the Slovenian territory

“The greatest pope among the literati and the greatest litterateur among the popes, Aeneas Silvius Piccolomini (1405-1464), later Pope Pius II, is certainly the most closely linked to the present-day Slovenian territory among all the successors of Peter in history.
The book presents and translates numerous documents showing how he influenced the area in various roles: as secretary to Emperor Frederick III (1444-1447), Bishop of Trieste (1447-1450) and one of the main actors in the foundation of the Ljubljana diocese (1462-1463). Piccolomini is much less well known in our cultural consciousness as a humanist of extraordinary stature and an outstanding literary artist. The value of the present Pi material is certainly the fact that we have in Slovene all the basic material of the Italian’s oeuvre, related to the present-day Slovene space.”

The cultural-artistic association Format, in collaboration with the Institute for Studies in Monasticism and Contemplative Science, is organising a series of lectures entitled “Worlds Behind Eyes Wide Shut”. The lectures will shed light on the interpretation and meaning of dreams from three historically, geographically and culturally distant perspectives, covering Greco-Roman and Christian antiquity, Buddhism and contemporary phenomenology, psychiatry and psychotherapy.

Encounters with Heritage, lecture by Egon Pelikan, PhD, Tone Kralj and the space of the border

Among the many events accompanying the Bread and Games exhibition (Kruha in iger), The Paintings of Tone Kralj 1941-1945, on Wednesday, the 16th of October 2024, we will be hosting an excellent expert on Kralj’s work, Egon Pelikan, PhD. The lecture will present the ideological marking of the space along the Slovenian-Italian border. It is an oeuvre of church paintings created by the painter Tone Kralj in the churches of Primorska between the two wars and during the Second World War.

The short lecture will be followed by a longer discussion with the lecturer.

Egon Pelikan received his PhD from the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana in 1998 with a dissertation on political Catholicism. He has lectured at the University of Trieste, the University of Essen and the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig. Since 2004 he has been the head of the Institute for Historical Studies of the Koper Scientific Research Centre and the chairman of the Scientific Council of the Koper Scientific Research Centre. His bibliography comprises more than 200 works, including several authored monographs. He has received several prestigious awards for his work, including the Zois Prize.
