Join us for a free Watoji Japanese book-binding workshop!
📖 In this workshop we will be making modular sketchbooks using the Japanese bookbinding technique.
🪡 The sketchbook can also be disassembled and the inner leaves and covers can be added or taken away as needed. We will use mainly waste coloured and monochrome paper and cardboard of various thicknesses and other scraps of graphic sketchbook sheets. The workshop is suitable for anyone who likes to write and draw by hand or who enjoys handicrafts and learning about the creativity and practicalities of other cultures. Materials and tools will be provided!
Places are limited, so registration is essential. The Koper Youth Centre’s programme is primarily aimed at empowering young people and strengthening their competences, so we will give priority to applications from people aged between 15 and 30. Of course, if the number of applications is optimal, everyone – young and young at heart – will be accepted.

The series of comic making workshops continues and is attracting more and more interest among young people!
The Comic Making Workshop brings together a variety of illustrators and writers, or just those of you who are still flirting with comics. The workshop series is designed to meet and get to know creators, share and develop ideas and support them in creating the final product – an original comic!
You don’t need any prior knowledge to take part in the workshop, just a bit of imagination and the will to create. If you have already collected your own material to create a story, you can also bring it with you (in digital or physical form) if you wish.
“Drawers and Writers” will meet on the first Thursday of every month, from 6 pm onwards, at the Koper Youth Centre.
The workshop is aimed at people aged 16 and over.

DON’T FORGET THE FLOWERS,
will take place on Tuesday, 8 April, at 6 pm, in the Koper City Library Reading Room
Jan Robin graduated in Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana. He has been working in the field since the beginning of his studies and plants have been his passion since childhood. Later, as a student, he took part in the Green Challenge project, where he and a teammate won first prize for the design of a farm garden at the Volčji potok Arboretum.
On Instagram, he is known as Botanistbyheart, where he shares his love of plants with more than 65 000 followers from all over the world. In 2018, his photo was chosen for the cover of the book Boyswithplants, which features fifty boys and their plant collections. As a great lover of plants, he participates in various events related to plants and their placement in space. He organises workshops and round tables on houseplants. He encourages young people to love greenery and self-sufficiency and uses his knowledge to help them furnish their homes with plants. He initiated the first plant swap in Maribor and is an ambassador of the #PlantHealth4Life campaign run by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and writes for the magazine Flowers and Garden.
You are invited to come and see and see a demonstration, because as Jan says, passion is contagious!
