Carnival is coming to Koper!

On Saturday, 14 February 2026, at 11:00 a.m., you are invited to the 16th Istrian Carnival Parade, which will fill the city with colours, laughter and true carnival joy.

Ethnographic masks, colourful carnival groups and original carnival floats will parade through the city streets, creating an unforgettable carnival experience for all generations.

Programme of the 16th Istrian Carnival Parade:

9:30–11:30 (at the Taverna): Face painting for children and adults

10:00–11:00 (at the Taverna): Children’s carnival party with Vesele rokice

11:00–13:00: CARNIVAL PARADE
(Parking area near the Bonifika Stadium in Koper → Ljubljanska Street → Pristaniška Street → Ukmar Square)

13:00–16:00 (at the Taverna): Concert by Heaven Band and award ceremony for the parade participants

20:00 (at the Koper Youth Centre): Carnival party with the band Kavč

Come in costume, dance with us and let’s chase away the winter together! And don’t forget to treat yourself to a delicious carnival doughnut. On Sunday, instead, head to the 72nd Muggia Carnival - another Carnival celebration that is truly not to be missed, just a short distance from Trieste. The festive atmosphere in this charming Istrian-Venetian town lasts throughout the Carnival week, but every year the most anticipated moment is the grand Sunday parade.
