Kaštelir festival

You are invited to an unique experience of Istrian heritage - the Kaštelir festival - taking place on 5 June in Praetorian palace Koper and 6 June in Elerji.

Together we will revive the stories of the ancient "kaštelirji" - prehistoric fortified settlements - and discover the richness of Istrian cuisine, culture, and nature. A diverse programme awaits you, featuring guided tours of archaeological sites, expert talks, sports activities, and many other accompanying events.

Join us at this special festival, where the past intertwines with the present, and discover the hidden treasures of Istria!

Friday, 5 June:

9.00–15.00 Closing of the cross-border school for archaeological research of hillforts and dry-stone construction within the KAŠTellieri project (Pretorian Palace)

Saturday, 6 June:

8:00 – 9:00 Mystical sound bath with gongs at the hillfort REGISTRATION FORM

9:00 – 10:00 From Discovery to Exhibition (in collaboration with the Regional Museum of Koper)

9:00 – 13:00 Prehistoric Weavings – Card weaving demonstration with an opportunity to try the craft

9:00 – 13:00 Creative workshops for children: “Make Your Own Clay Jewelry”

10:00 – 12:00 Making the traditional Istrian folk instrument “nunalca” – workshop titled “Whistle and Struggle!”

10:00 – 11:00 Guided walk along the archaeological trail

10:30 – 11:00 Dance performance by Fiona Dance School and performance by the children’s choir of Hrvatini Primary School

11:00 – 12:00 Musical performance by Romana Krajnčan

17.00–20.00 Guided cycling tour along the hillfort trail (meeting point: Sonček Farm, Elerji) REGISTRATION FORM

17:00 – Opening of the Ex-tempore exhibition with a cultural programme and music performance Nika Solce (Sonček Centre)
