Katja Šulc will present her new album 'West Wind, Blow From Your Prairie Nest' (ŠKUC, 2024), made as a resident of Alojz Kocjančič's house in Kubed.
The album sets to music the poetry of the indigenous peoples of North America, which Katja explored during her artist residency at the Institute of American Indian Arts in New Mexico as a CEC ArtsLink Fellow. The project's repertoire includes original settings of poems by prominent Native American poets and reworkings of existing Native American poems, presenting Native American testimonies, perspectives and values through a blend of tradition and modernity.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Katja Šulc is a singer and musician who combines poetry, contemporary folk and traditions of other cultures. To date, she has released four studio albums and with the last two in particular - Kamlisajlan (2016) and Caricias (2021) - she has reached the frequencies of international radio stations (BBC, IMER, RNE, WFMU) and numerous stages at home and abroad: from France, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic, Portugal, Morocco to the United States, China, Nepal, Mexico, Guatemala, Bolivia and Brazil.
The event is made possible by the Municipality of Koper and the Koper Institute for Youth, Culture and Tourism.
