Tuesday, 18.7.2023, Istarsko narodno kazalište, Pula, garden of the Gravisi Buttorai Palace, KoperThe performance is dedicated to Franca Rama, an Italian icon of activist theatre, satire, feminism, politics and the struggle for ideals. "The word is freedom, like breath, without which we cannot do", says the author of the text, for whom Franca Rame and her life companion, Nobel Prize winner Dario Fo, were symbols of freedom of speech and courage. They performed where the theatre could speak with all honesty. The play is a biographical documentary and raises themes related to the role of women in society, about which Franca Rame spoke, wrote or acted persistently. The actress performs it in Italian and in the Istrovenetian dialect, within which we also hear Istriota, in order to emphasise the preservation of the linguistic heritage of the Istrian region.Played by Petra B.
