Reflection on transience and vulnerability

With a project dedicated to the songs and traditions of the fasting season, the DEKOR Chamber Choir once again entrusts the baton to the multi-talented Aco Aleksandar Bišćević. Together they explore the days of penance and self-reflection that mark the time between Ash Wednesday and Easter, as they teach humility and lead to rebirth. They encourage fasting - also from judgments, jealousy, worries, words that hurt, misery and anxiety. Messages of transience, fragility and penance are conveyed in selected compositions by local masters of liturgical music such as Mav, Sattner, Tomc, Hribar, Jobst and others, and the programme is crowned by the Miserere mei ("Mercy on me") by the Franco-Flemish Renaissance composer Orlando di Lasso and the moving motet Crucifixus ("Crucified") by the Italian Baroque composer Antonio Lotti. You are invited to the Cathedral of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary, on the 20th of March 2024, at 20:00.
