A TRIP ALONG THE TRAILS OF ŠAVRINKE

Step into the past on a unique day trip through three countries – Slovenia, Croatia, and Italy – as we follow the path once walked by the Šavrinke, the brave Istrian women who made a living through cross-border trade.

They would leave early in the morning from villages like Gračišče and Kubed, travel through Motovun and Buzet, and return with baskets full of eggs and other goods. They continued toward Trieste, where they fulfilled their orders and delivered them to clients across Istrian villages.

Along the way, you’ll discover places and people tied to this historic trade network. Thanks to the descendants of the Šavrinke, some joyful stories and traditions will come alive—complete with traditional costumes and performances.

The journey concludes with a stroll through Trieste and, instead of the fried fish once loved by the Šavrinke, a relaxing coffee break in one of the city’s iconic cafés.
