SAIL LIKE A CAPTAIN
Embark on an adventure around Koper with Captain Capp and uncover the city’s historical secrets.

A journey through time will reveal how the capital of Slovenian Istria came to be on Insula Capraria (Goat Island).
ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

Captain Cappo will meet children at the Soča bus station in Koper. We’ll spend three hours together and walk a little over two kilometers, visiting the market and trying out the Captain’s obstacle course in the playground. In Carpaccio Square, we’ll explore his stone house with Gothic windows and the Tavern that once served as a salt warehouse, and discover why the pillar of St. Justine stands there. As we pass the grand Venetian palaces, we’ll arrive at a platform overlooking the Port of Koper, gaining insights into the significance of this bustling port city—perhaps even spotting a cruise ship. On our way to the central squares, we’ll stumble upon the smallest house in the world. The charming medieval Čevljarska Street will lead us to Prešeren Square, home to a beautiful bridge-shaped fountain. We’ll exit the city center through Muda, the only preserved city gate, and stroll along a palm-lined street back to our starting point.
Throughout this adventure, Captain Cappo’s life story will be our guiding thread. Have your children heard it?
Through play and fun, children will experience the rich history and charm of Koper and lear about:
The sacral heritage of Koper
The landmarks on Koper’s main squares
The sun as a symbol of the municipality of Koper
The artworks of master painter Vittore Carpaccio
Venetian influence on the town’s grand palaces
St. Nazarius, the city’s patron saint
The Port of Koper, Slovenia’s gateway to the world
A variety of exciting historical adventures await:
Captain Cappo’s obstacle course
Bowling in our charming Loggia
Aiming at the Venetian Lion
Dart-throwing at the Koper Sun symbol
Memory games with coats of arms and symbols featured on the Praetorian Palace
Blindfolded touch test of noble families’ coat of arms symbols
