This summer Koper invites you to try a brand new culinary experience by the sea. Fishermen’s Village opens on Friday, July 4, in the square next to the former Maritime Directorate – a place where the sea meets local tradition and the summer vibe. From July to the end of the season the village will be open every evening — 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM (Sunday to Thursday), and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Taste the Adriatic
Four food huts will offer a variety of freshly prepared dishes made with local and seasonal ingredients. Istrian wines, creative cocktails with a seaside twist and don’t forget dessert – no culinary journey is complete without it. A real highlight is the open-air fish market designed around the “sea-to-plate” concept. Choose your own fresh local fish and have it prepared in front of you — simple, fresh and full of Mediterranean flavour.

Expect a menu that celebrates the taste of the Adriatic: Codfish (bakala), codfish with truffles, seafood tartare trio, cuttlefish salad, marinated sardines, mussels alla buzara, mixed shellfish, grilled tiger prawns, fried calamari, grilled fillets, and of course, daily fresh catch, prepared on the spot with just salt, olive oil and sunshine.

A Village Full of Life
Fishermen’s Village is not just about great food — it’s a space where culture, community and tradition come together. The summer program includes live music evenings, cooking workshops for children and adults and presentations of fishing and culinary heritage with local associations.
A special cultural program curated by Libris Publishing House brings together poetry and music under the sea breeze and culminates in the festival “Words in the Harbour – Art in the Embrace of the Sea” which will turn the village into a haven of inspiration and connection between art and the maritime world.
CURRENT PROGRAMME:
13 July: Street Mulo – performance
15 July: Aleksandra – performance
16 July: DJ Alessio – Sunset set
17 July: Al Picone – evening dedicated to Oliver Dragojević

Eco-friendly by the Sea
Fishermen’s Village is eco-friendly — no single-use plastic, short supply chains and local sourcing and a commitment to sustainable coastal development.
The project is supported by local partners who share this vision: fisherman Matjaž Radin, Prosub d.o.o., Zadruga Agraria Koper, Zanestra d.o.o., Krmac Farm, Kralj Wine Cellar and the Professional Fishermen’s Cooperative — all about quality, authenticity and the environment.
Join us in Fishermen’s Village — for a taste of the sea, summer nights and good company. That’s summer in Koper.
