Discover the House of Bardinc, a typical Istrian house in the village of Lopar near Marezige, built more than 200 years ago. This cultural gem is one of the few Istrian houses still standing that preserves the architectural heritage of our ancestors.
The house provides a window into traditional life in Istria, showcasing an authentic Istrian black kitchen and a wine cellar housing the region’s oldest wine press, which dates back over 200 years.
It also features a local history collection of objects, photographs, and documents that vividly recount the stories of past generations. There is also a threshing machine in the courtyard dating back to 1803.
The house is named after its former residents, Stanko and Pepa, who raised 11 children here. During the economic crisis of 1929, their children moved all around the world. The house is renowned for its unique architecture, featuring bars on the windows designed to deter theft, as well as stone steps (škale) and an external corridor (baladur) leading to the first floor.
The House of Bardinc and its courtyard (kurti) host various cultural events that cater to both children and adults.
