Following the Beijing Geographical Congress in August 2016, the organizers organized several field trips to various Chinese provinces. One of them led to the west of China, from Dunhuang on the edge of the Gobi Desert, participants traveled through the Turfan Depression to Urumqi. Among other things, they observed various geomorphic forms of wind relief, such as jardanges and dunes, discussed energy extraction and land use, and the coexistence of Chinese and Uighurs in Sinkiang. The second part will show the journey to Almaty in Kazakhstan and the indicated continuation of the Silk Road to the West.

The lecture will be dr. Matej Gabrovec, Scientific Advisor at the Anton Melik Geographical Institute, ZRC SAZU, and Assistant Professor at the Department of Geography of UP FHŠ.
