At one point, it served as an armoury, and later became the viewpoint of the town.
The image of the bastion built in 1554 changed slightly in the 19th century and was renovated in 2010.
This is the only preserved fortification building of the outer fortification wall of Koper.
Nowadays, a panoramic elevator connects the passenger terminal with the old town centre.
