Long walks on the beach during winter, soaking up the early spring sunshine on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, cooling off in the sea during the summer heat and an active enjoyment with autumnal sporting activities. You can experience all this throughout the year on the 8 kilometre long coast of the destination Koper.

Koper has two beaches: Koper city beach (so called “Mokra mačka” – wet cat) and the beach in Žusterna. Otherwise, you can also enjoy sunbathing, swimming and other beach activities on the coastal area between Koper and Izola.

At the end of the Semedela promenade you can also find a dog beach which is separated from other bathing areas and equipped with all the necessary equipment that enables dogs to cool off.

Koper city beach

The majority of the beach near the Koper city centre is covered by grass, but you can also find some trees that will let you cool off during the hot summer days or you can rent parasols and deckchairs during the swimming season.

Children will enjoy the tidy sandbox and playground and the beach is also equipped with toilets and changing cabins.

The beach is covered in pebbles, while the entrance to the sea is suitable for children, since the water along the beach is shallow. You can also jump into the water from the pier. You can find a confectionery and a restaurant on the beach, which is guarded by lifeguards during the visitor’s hours of the swimming season (from 15 June to 30 September).

The beach proudly displays a Blue Flag, which marks its clean water and the cleanliness of the beach.

Entrance to the beach is free, which is why it is visited by locals and tourists, who long for a swim in the sea during the summer months.

Beach in Žusterna

The beach is located by the exit of the city and can be reached by a 15 minute walk from the city centre. It is mostly made of concrete, with few patches of grass surfaces with trees that allow you to relax in the shade. You can rent parasols and deckchairs during the swimming season, while the use of showers is free.

Additionally, toilets (including those suitable for disabled persons) and baby changing facilities are available on the beach. During the swimming season you can also relax in the café.

On the beach, you can find a freshwater Olympic pool and a smaller pool for children that is filled with seawater and playground equipment, both of which charge an entrance fee.

Entrances to the sea are safe and tidy, while the beach is guarded by lifeguards and fitted with the necessary equipment for water rescue.

During the summer season you can visit the park for water sports Active Koper, which is part of the beach in Žusterna, where you can rent SUP-boards, water bikes, kayaks and other equipment for fun activities in the sea and on the beach.
