This Gothic entrance portal is supposed to have originated in the 15th century and was probably a part of the Verzi Palace, the home of the noble household of Verzi which is considered to be one of the oldest families in Koper.
On the arch of the building, you will also notice the crest of this family.
Some consider the portal to be the most important stonemasonry work in Koper.
