The Pedagogical Institute and the Faculty of Education of the University of Primorska invite you to a symposium entitled Pandemic Discourses: The Rhetoric of Infection and Infectious Rhetoric, which will take place on Thursday, September 9, 2021, in the hall of Sv. Francis of Assisi in Koper. The event will take place in hybrid form, live and via ZOOM.

If previously the idea that a pandemic was not merely – or in some cases not even primarily – a natural science problem was largely limited to the humanities and social sciences, the political and social dimensions of “health” have become apparent to almost everyone over the past year. However, the “pandemic” as a political and social phenomenon needs to be investigated in more detail in order to reveal its diverse and diverse structure.

Selection of speakers at the meeting, such as dr. Ali Žerdin, Ph.D. Barbara Rajgelj, Ph.D. Rastko Močnik, Ph.D. Kristian Bjørkdahl …, guarantees that topics related to pandemic discourses will be addressed from different perspectives, including historical, cultural, political, philosophical and also educational aspects. In addition to individual presentations, the audience will be able to participate in a round table at the end of the day, which will highlight the importance of rhetoric as a discipline that allows understanding various aspects of community life.
