In Bertroki, the archaeological site Sermin was discovered and it features traces of prehistoric, Roman and medieval colonisation, burial grounds and remains of the Church of St George from the 12th century.

Nowadays, you can also visit the Church of the Assumption of Mary, which stands a little apart from the village. The church which was dedicated in 1676 by Frančiško Zeno, the bishop of Koper, has a rectangular nave in its ground plan, chapels on the sides and a presbytery. Besides the church is an independently standing bell tower from 1934. The original cemetery chapel was renovated in 1729.

At one time, salt pans were located near the church and a hospital for infectious diseases also stood in its immediate vicinity.
